Credit cards are convenient means of payments to use. While many bad credit cases was a result of improper credit card use, credit card holders can avoid being in a bad credit situation by using their credit cards the proper way. Below are some tips on how you can use your credit cards correctly without getting caught in bad credit.

Don’t use your credit card on purchases that you can pay in cash. If you do, you may end up buying a lot of things that are really unplanned and out of your budget. As much as possible, pay your daily expenses using your allotted cash for that day.
Pay back your credit card balance in full each payment due. Most credit card holders pay only the minimum on their bills. Make it a point to charge only the amount you can pay back in full. This is an important step in avoiding credit.

Always pay on time. The importance of paying credit card bills on time cannot be emphasized enough. Don’t forget that with a single delay or miss in your payment, you immediately incur the interest rate on your debts. The habit of missing your due date of payments can easily put any credit card holder in a bad credit situation.

Choose credit cards with low interest rates only. It is important to start with the right kind of credit cards. Always go for a lower interest credit card even if other cards seem to offer more rewards or perks. If you’re not going to transfer balances to your credit card, then find one that has a low interest on purchases. Some credit cards may entice you with 0% interest rate on balance transfers only but not on purchases. Also, bear in mind that introductory offers will not last long. You’re better off with a credit card that guarantees reasonable fees for a lifetime.

Choose credit cards with sufficient grace period. To buy as much time as you can before incurring the interest rate, check on the length of grace period the credit card offers. As much as possible, find one that gives up to 30 days grace period.

Going through a divorce is truly a tough and stressful experience. Aside from dealing with its emotional and mental impact to each family member, dealing with finances can also bring about complications. Let us consider some points involving financial matters that can help you go through with divorce less painfully.

Child Support
If you have children, know your financial duties. It is crucial that both parents come to an agreement regarding the arrangements about child support. It is a common case that a parent does not pay enough or does not pay at all his financial duties to his children. As early as possible this matter should be addressed and cleared.

Dividing Property
State laws differ when it comes to dividing properties between divorcees. If you live in a community property state (AZ, CA, ID, LA, NE, NM, TX, WA, and WI), then your personal assets and your spouse’s assets that are acquired during your marriage will be divided equally between the two of you. For the rest of the states, the court will be deciding about the property distribution which depends on the financial state of the divorcing couple.

However, if you can come up with an agreement, the better it is for both of you. Some divorcees use “bartering” in dividing properties where both parties decide on which assets they would like to keep and which they would like to give up. However, to be fair, some divorcees prefer to sell all their conjugal properties and divide the sales equally between them.

Dividing Debts
Dividing debts can be really complicated. It is not a rare case where a spouse defaults on his or her debts and leaves the other spouse paying for the debts they were supposed to share. There have also been many cases where a spouse continues to run up more debts without the ex-spouse’s consent or knowledge. These unfortunate situations can be avoided by closing joint accounts and removing your spouse as an authorized user of your individual account.

Next, list all your expenses for an entire month and compare this with your monthly income. You need to cut back on your monthly spending in order to make up on your mortgage. Perhaps you can give up your cable for the meantime, avoid long distance calls, cut back on your electricity bills, cut back on your groceries and other unnecessary spending. Calculate how much you can compromise as payment for your loan.
