Companies and Security Outsourcing
With this in mind, it becomes understandable why companies put great amounts of their finances in funding for these security measures. In recent years, whether for a security force or network protection, security outsourcing is becoming a popular choice among businesses. Outsourcing information systems is also seen as a great alternative to ensure the safety of a company's most valuable information. In answer to this growing demand, outsourcing providers are striving hard to provide high-standard and reliable network security systems for their clients worldwide.
For many businesses, both large corporations and smaller companies, security outsourcing is considered to be a more practical and efficient way of acquiring protection.
In fact, the Global Information Security Survey of 2002 reports that around 66 percent of businesses around the globe outsource on or more of its security measures.
Why? First of all, outsourcing security is a lot cheaper than preferring traditional security or purchasing expensive security equipment. If we speak about network protection, it would cost a company huge amounts of money to take care of its own system.
Network security protection does not only cover one aspect. It is a diverse collection of different strategies. Some of these strategies include the following:
* access control which has to do with passwords;
* firewall
* IDS or intrusion detection system which is used to detect unauthorized access to files and systems;
* Virtual Private Network (VPN) which allows secured connections to the server;
* content filtering;
* anti-virus protection systems;
* encryption or transferring messages through secret codes;
